Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum company size for Belgian SME grants?

No minimum. Sole traders and micro-enterprises qualify for most programs. Some have maximum size limits but none have minimums based on size alone.

Can I apply for multiple grants at the same time?

Yes. Belgian grants can generally be combined subject to de minimis rules (€300,000 over 3 years per company for most programs). BelGrant helps identify the best combination.

Do grants need to be repaid?

No. Belgian grants are non-repayable subsidies — you keep the full amount as long as you meet program conditions. They are different from soft loans and guarantees.

What happens if my application is rejected?

You can usually reapply after addressing rejection reasons. Most agencies provide feedback. BelGrant's Lucas can help understand what went wrong.
